Job Job Jobs

So, this is going to be a kind of random post.  First, I want to comment on my new job.  Its going good.  Things are kinda slow for me right now, just figuring out what jobs are going on, where they are, where I fit in, how the work flow works out, etc.  It is VERY different from where I was working, which is what I was looking for for sure.

Also, below are some pics I took for my good friend Elizabeth and her kids.  Just wanted to share a few of my favs.

Last Day

So, today is my last day at my current job!!!  I got a new job at a marketing/design firm in Bentonville.  Its only about 2 miles from my house which is REALLY nice!!!! I have all of these emotions running through me.  I'm bored at my current job, but will my new job be boring too? I hope not.  Will I get along with everyone like I do here?!  Will I live up to their expectations?  Well, only one way to find out.  I actually start on Halloween (I know, creepy!).  Wish me luck!!!!!

American education...yikes

The education (or non-education) of food and health in American society never ceases to amaze me.  I am by no means the skinnest person in the world, nor do I obey and follow all of the knowledge I do have.  However, I do see how most of America is so obese after this conversation I had with a 38ish year old woman.  (who is kinda large....I'm not trying to be mean, just telling the truth).

The Setting: 3:30 in the afternoon at work.  The woman is on a diet she just started today.

Woman: I think that I am going to run to the gas station to get something to snack on.

Me: Ok

Woman: I have not taken in ANY calories today so I am really weak

Me: (Thinking that she is exagerating) Oh, what did you eat for lunch?

Woman: I had vegetable soup.  It is calorie free.

Me: Um, thats impossible.  Everything has calories in it.

Woman: No, this soup is good for you so it doesn't have calories.

Me: Whats it have in it?

Woman: Oh, cabbage, tomatoes, celery, tomatoe juice, etc

Me: Um, yeah let me show you

So I proceeded to show her a calorie counter online and show her how many calories were in things like tomatoes, cabbage, etc.  She seriously thought that only "bad" things had calories.  I now understand that our society does not understand healthy eating because they are not educated.  And when they are educated, it is usually on weird diets like the atkins and they do not understand a healthy, balanced diet.  I'm not writing this to judge anyone, because I do not eat healthy most of the time at all, but I do want to point out the uneducation of America's society.  Its not that people just don't care, its that they do not understand.
